Pacific Rim Bloodhound Club, Inc. (PRBC) was founded in April 1996 and recognized by the American Bloodhound Club (ABC) a few months later. The initial goals of PRBC were to fill a need in the Northwest for a smooth-running, teamwork-oriented group of Bloodhound enthusiasts to plan annual regional specialties and supported shows; to organize and host an ABC national specialty every six years; to educate new Bloodhound owners and the public regarding our breed; and to be involved in Bloodhound rescue in our region.
PRBC’s original geographical range encompassed Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, British Columbia, and Alberta, Canada. However, membership has been broadened to include all those who wish to be actively involved in the club, regardless of their geographic locations. PRBC’s officers and directors reflect and effectively represent the variety of interests of the membership, including conformation, obedience, man trailing, search and rescue, therapy dogs, and Bloodhound rescue and re-homing efforts.
PRBC’s first regional specialty event was held in April of 1997 in Yakima, Washington. We hosted our first ABC national specialty in September 1999 and our first Independent regional in August 2000. In the ensuing years, PRBC has hosted many regional specialties and man trailing events. In addition to the 1999 event, ABC national specialties hosted by PRBC have been held in 2005, 2011, and 2017 and we are beginning the planning to host the ABC's 2023 national specialty.
